Edgebanding
When open-edged chipboard and MDF need finishing off, especially door fronts, worktops, carcasses, shelves and wall unit systems – Doellken edgebanding from SURTECO comes into play.
The Edge-it stock program includes a range of over 300 edgeband decors to compliment all MDF board ranges and sizes available in our market. Working with production facilities in Europe, Asia and Australia, we maintain the largest stock range in New Zealand.
They are used in all areas of daily life, in the office, shop, kitchen, bathroom and living areas. We offer a comprehensive range of edgebanding to suit customer requirements in PVC, ABS, PMMA & melamine.
Additionally we support individual customers developing new products. Often special projects require something different like a unique colour match, or size, as well as special finishes such as Hi-Gloss or structured surfaces. With the support of SURTECO design and production facilities, Edge-it can offer you something completely different to set your business and products apart from the rest.

Minimised Glueline & Cleanup with Doellken Edgebanding
Doellken edgebanding from SURTECO is extruded with a slightly concave profile. This is very different from calendared material that is cut or slit down from wider master rolls. Calendared edgebanding is generally cheaper to produce but totally flat in profile, resulting in a more visible glueline beneath the edging. Also solvents used in cleaning, painting and lacquering over the life of the end-product will attack the adhesive, weakening the bonded edge over time.
Additionally the concave profile is designed to force liquefied hotmelt inwards rather than outwards when pressure is applied filling in any potential voids. With correct application, this creates a tight, seamless look where the edgebanding meets the board resulting in a stronger and more resilient bond. It also has the potential to eliminate cleanup afterwards resulting in productivity gains
3D EdgebandMore
3D-Edgeband: Design that enhances value
A whole new generation of edgebanding materials – developed and patented by Döllken. The 3D-Edgeband stands out above all on account of its innovative brilliance of colour and contrast, its impressive three-dimensional effect (3D effect), and quality of the very highest order. The 3D-Edgeband turns any piece of furniture into a design item of superior quality.
The 3D-Edgeband is made up of crystal clear acrylic with the decorative finish applied to the back. Its unique advantage: Even after radius or chamfer milling, the decorative finish is fully retained, since only the transparent layer is removed. Unsightly frame effects therefore are a thing of the past. At the same time the decorative finish is protected from damage.
Acrylic (PMMA = polymethyl methacrylate)
Acrylic is a well-established high-grade thermoplastic which, when used in Doellken 3D-Edgebands, sets new technical and aesthetic standards for furniture edgebands. In addition, the transparency of Acrylic exceeds that of glass.
ABS EdgebandMore
ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene)
ABS is an impact resistant, mechanically and thermally resilient, high quality thermoplastic which is ecologically sound. For over 20 years now, this chlorine-free plastic has been successfully used in the furniture industry. It is the outstanding application, processing and disposal characteristics, in particular, of ABS that contribute to its extensive impact on the furniture manufacture market.
PVC EdgebandMore
PVC (polyvinyl chloride)
PVC is today one of the best known and most common plastics. For more than 40 years edgebands for the furniture industry have also been manufactured from this material and have turned out to be very successful due to their outstanding materials characteristics. In particular, it is the excellent processing characteristics of PVC for specific applications that have contributed to its breakthrough in the furniture manufacturing market.
Digital-EdgeMore
Digital-Edge: We print your edge
Just imagine you could freely select an inexpensive fantasy motif for your individual piece of furniture – in small batch sizes and with a short delivery time. Döllken can offer you this and can print any motif of your choice onto your edgeband, using our trendsetting digital printing technology. Utilising this newly developed technology, it is now possible for the first time to also apply photo-realistic themes to edgebands and to print on coloured edgebands using the full colour spectrum. Conventional systems can only print on white substrates, with unsatisfactory results to the users.
The customer has a say in the décor design and print rollers are no longer required for décors.
As such, small batch sizes can be now be economically produced, offering designers and architects the necessary tools for modern designs. Quick colour adjustments are also now possible, enabling fast introduction of new products into the market. Contrast edgings are suited for shopfittings or individual furniture items.
- Smallest batch sizes
- Unlimited variety of fantasy décors
- Unusual contrast edgings
Fusion-EdgeMore
Fusion-Edge: Döllken lasers the edgeband to the board
Honoured with the M-Technology Award 2008 and the Fusion-Edge nomination for the BRD 2009 Design prize, Döllken is now ready for series production of the Fusion-Edge. Gluelines between edgeband and board are thus now something of the past. Based on the laser jointing process, Döllken developed the Fusion-Edge for glueline free narrow surface coating – with no hot melt adhesive required. No adjustment is therefore required on the machine for adhesive application. Adhesive stocks are unnecessary and costs of setting up fall away. Possible through co-extrusion of a two-layer edgeband: A 0.6 to 3 mm thick ABS or PP base layer, in the décor of your choice, and a thin, integrated functional layer consisting of polymers and constituting the edgeband’s adhesive layer. It is coloured throughout in the same tone as the top layer. The functional layer is applied to the panel using a high performance laser and bonds to the board during processing via an invisible adhesion joint.
This revolutionary new technology has won over many customers already. Compared to conventional gluing, joint tightness and water and moisture resistance are better, thanks to the union of edgeband and board.
- Perfect looks
- No gap between edgeband and board
- Additional hot melt adhesive no longer required
- Increased production safety and productivity
EdgeCleanMore
SURTECO EdgeClean
Exceptional quality, lemon scent, highly effective
Formulated specially for use with SURTECO PVC and ABS edgebanding, EdgeClean is highly suitable for on-site work and OSH sensitive areas. This product is highly recommended for all cleanup and residue removal on furniture and cabinetry.
EdgeClean is non smearing, fast evaporating and leaves no residue on work area, and a special lemon additive ensures a better working environment for staff.
Using aggressive solvents on ABS edgebanding is not recommended and can cause discoloration and damage the printed surface layer. EdgeClean has been developed to ensure care and prevent damage to the edgebanding.
